This was answered by SOHAM, but due to technical issues, I will be posting his answer- "Our whole universe was in a hot, dense state
Then nearly fourteen billion years ago expansion started, wait
The earth began to cool, the autotrophs began to drool
Neanderthals developed tools
We built a wall (we built the pyramids)
Math, science, history, unraveling the mysteries
That all started with the big bang (bang)",this was the soundtrack of my life in childhood. Yet as I unraveled and uncovered further through the seasons, I had to suspend my belief of the Big Ban Theory for String Theory and Holographic Principles, to give up my notions of what seemed ordinary to the world of Sheldon, Leonard, Howard, Raj, Amy, Penny and Bernadette.
In short, Big Bang Theory ain't nothing like the Big Bang.
What if all that you see and hear, all that you touch and feel is an illusion, what if the whole universe is like that?, what if the universe is a hologram? This is a concept in modern physics and in the show that questions the birth of cosmos and our place in it.
Let's dive deeper, shall we ?
"The holographic principle suggests that what we all experience every day in three dimensions may really just be information on a surface located at the farthest reaches of our cosmos. So it's possible that our lives are really just acting out a painting on the largest canvas in the universe" told by Leonard Hofstadter in the show, beautifully explains the idea behind it.
In the 20th and 21st century, physicists sparked and fawned an idea that the whole universe is just one marvelous television show.
That's mindblowing, but in the 1990's, Leonard Susskind proposed the idea that all information of out 3-dimensional world is encoded in a 2d surface, similar to a "three-dimensional image is encoded in a two-dimensional surface, such as in the hologram on a credit card" or the 3-d shows you watch on your 2-D TV screen. So though this all might seem very real to us, we have no way to distinguish if it is a hologram or not.Maybe Shakespeare was right after all,
"All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players'.
Now we take a step down the ladder ,down to another dimension, down into the world of Flatland. In the show, Flatland was a imaginary world Sheldon would travel to where everything existed in 2-D, in two dimensions.
Backstory: In real life, Flatland is a mathematical fantasy written by Edwin A. Abott. It shows the world of Flatland from the eyes of a square,a regular quadrilateral who like any other, regular joe works, travels, shop but does all of this on a 2-d plane, in his world, who doesn't experience or conceive of depth but his whole grip on what is reality changes, when a sphere visits him from 3-D Spaceland. He may not see the sphere in its totality, but the imprint of the shadow of the sphere is felt in the 2-D dimension.
Does this seem bizarre, if it does, you are normal. It means following the physics and maths,Sheldon and Lenoard along with you and me are people experiencing 3-dimensional reality in a 2-D plane, where in that, we make 2-D figures and sketches and drawings that make up their own universe by themselves.
In short, we are universes within universes withn universes!
Before Sheldon's metamorphosis into a loving and empathetic soul, the idea that Sheldon would carry his bloodline further had a "snowballs chance in a CAT Scanner" [for geeks who love Big Bang Theory] and for laymen, not a chance in hell ! Many different theories was formulated to how would Sheldon would reproduce, one was by the way of mitosis.
In the legendary words by Howard Wolowitz "I believe one day Sheldon will eat an enormous amount of Thai food and split into two Sheldons". That's a crude but simple enough way to understand mitosis, mitosis in the real world is something like that.
Another explanation was given by Leonard Hofstadter was "On the other hand, I think Sheldon might be the larval form of his species. Someday he'll spin a cocoon and emerge two months later with moth wings and an exoskeleton."
After all, nature works in mysterious ways,a person who may have cared and fed the caterpillar its whole life ,would never be able to predict what hatches thereafter, for it follows its own nature and is beyond us. It would be fun to think Sheldon as a alien butterfly. That's one fun, geek aspect of biology discussed in Big Bang Theory.
Another one (which I leave to you to find out ),which was pointed in every episode was the mysterious syndrome of Raj that prevented him from talking to women without getting drunk or on pills? And his mysterious recovery from it and it's strange relationship and likening to cases which occurs in real life like this.
Little bit of Chemistry mixed with Physics and some trickery, you will have Sheldon talking like a chipmunk(https://youtu.be/7Om3BI4YmV8).
Backstory :In the show, Sheldon was tricked by his friend/arch-enemy Kripke into inhaling some helium which makes him sound like Dobby.
The chemistry and physics behind it is interesting, when sound waves travel through mediums like helium which is less dense than air, it travels faster as it travels faster [frequency remains constant],the wavelength increases thus making you sound very high, when sound waves travel in denser medium, you sound like Batman as your wavelength decreases.
I wish, it could end here however, another question can be raised to inquisitive readers if sound travels faster in lighter mediums, how come sound waves travel fastest in solids, liquids and then gases?
Big Bang Theory, has all of these thousands of tid-bits and pieces of information all rolled up together with comedy, to make you laugh and stop sometimes to think.
